Stay Safe and Secure with a Motorised Sliding Gate
As hard as it may be to accept, the truth is that our homes, our possessions and our families are at risk. South Africa’s suburbs have become a target for criminals, many of whom show little or no respect for the lives of their victims. The incidences of burglaries, car thefts and armed home invasions have reached an all-time high in many areas. Lacking the support of a sufficiently well-trained and well-equipped police force, homeowners have been forced to turn to security specialists for advice and equipment to protect their families and properties from a wave of crime that is rapidly reaching epidemic proportions.
While it is certain that some of these crimes are the result of prolonged surveillance and careful planning, many are purely opportunistic and could easily have been prevented. It is alarming to note just how many unsuspecting motorists have been overpowered by passers-by when getting out of their cars at night in order to gain entry to their driveways. A sliding gate fitted with a remote-controlled motor could have kept these unwary individuals safe.
Because these units move to one side, they are particularly well-suited for use in homes with a relatively short driveway. In such cases, the single or double swinging variety might otherwise leave insufficient clearance for a longer vehicle or perhaps, for a second one parked behind it. The only space requirement for such an installation is that there will need to be a length of straight wall or fencing that is, at least, equal to the width of the gate, to one side of it.
Because they are operated by an electric motor, these sliding gates require a connection to the mains power supply. However, as most South African’s have become all too aware, Eskom’s schedule of rolling blackouts could leave you locked in or out without some form of back-up power. A good-quality unit will be supplied with a back-up system (battery) that is capable of powering it for several operations. In addition, in the event of an emergency, it should be possible to disengage the unit from the motor and to operate it manually.
In addition to further extending your existing security measures, installing a sliding gate can also add a touch of class to your home. If you would prefer that the motors were not visible, they can be positioned out of sight behind a shrub or, if necessary, they can even be installed below ground. For that matter, these units are not restricted to home use. They also offer an effective means of access control for townhouse complexes or for any gated premises where the security of a building and its occupants is seen as important.
With almost 20 years of experience in the supply, installation and maintenance of building security equipment, there are few companies in Gauteng that are as well-equipped as Tandem Security Systems to protect your property. By only dealing with industry-leading brands, we offer a wide range of world-class products, including access controls systems, intercoms and CCTV, as well as electric fencing, swinging or sliding gates, and the motors to operate them.
